Machining has already found widespread applications in numerous fields. As contemporary manufacturing places less emphasis on sheer output and increasingly prioritizes precision in dimensions and geometry, high‑value components are following new development trends. Turning operations require a variety of machining methods; meanwhile, processes such as grinding, gear cutting, and milling can now be performed on a single lathe, reflecting a clear trend toward integrated machining workflows.

During the tempering process, high‑carbon alloy components can partially relieve the stresses generated during quenching. Following quenching, the metastable microstructures of martensite and residual austenite undergo decomposition and transformation. The tempering temperature is typically maintained below the eutectoid transformation temperature, with an optimal range around 650°C, and the holding time should be no less than 2 hours.
The optimal processing temperature for high‑performance components ensures that the molten material exhibits excellent fluidity during the casting process. When selecting the casting temperature, equipment must take into account factors such as the casting distance and the cooling conditions encountered during pouring.
When machining high‑performance components, the geometric parameters of the cutting tool must meet specific requirements. For stainless steel, the geometry of the cutting edge is typically determined by selecting appropriate rake and clearance angles. Moreover, stringent surface‑roughness specifications for the cutting edge of such components necessitate a higher degree of surface finish, which helps reduce resistance during chip curling and enhances tool life.
